③ Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess the prescribed Class 12 / 10+2 qualification from a recognised board or institution.
• The notification generally specifies a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, with stated exceptions for certain categories and candidates with higher qualifications. Read the full notification carefully to confirm whether an exception applies.
• The required qualification must be possessed by the closing date of the online application: 13 November 2026.
• Candidates awaiting the results of their final qualifying examination are not eligible under the notification conditions.

④ Age Limit and Relaxation

Base age range: 18–30 years, calculated as on 1 January 2027.

Additional rules and conditions apply to some categories. Age relaxation is not necessarily cumulative; check the relevant notification clauses and date-of-birth requirements.

⑤ Salary and Pay Levels

• Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk: Pay Level 3; initial basic pay ₹21,700 per month.
• Accounts Clerk Cum Typist: Pay Level 2; initial basic pay ₹19,900 per month.
• Junior Clerk Cum Typist: Pay Level 2; initial basic pay ₹19,900 per month.
• Trains Clerk: Pay Level 2; initial basic pay ₹19,900 per month.

These figures are initial basic pay, not take-home salary. Applicable allowances, deductions and service rules affect the final amount.

⑥ Application Fee

The notification provides for refund only after appearing in the first-stage CBT. Online payment methods and category-specific documentary requirements apply. EBC, EWS and OBC are distinct categories under the notice.

⑧ CBT 1 Exam Pattern

• Duration: 90 minutes.
• Negative marking: One-third of the marks allotted to a question for each incorrect answer.
