Eligibility Criteria
Senior Consultant (Scientific – Non-Medical)
- Proven competency and success in the area of specialisation, with at least 12 years of post-qualification experience, and minimum M.Sc / B.Tech / BE / MCA / MPH / B.Pharm / BAMS / BSMS / MD in AYUSH or an equivalent qualification in the relevant subject.
- OR retired Government employees with the required qualification, who were in regular Pay Level 10 and above, with at least 10 years of experience in the required specialisation.
Consultant (Finance)
- At least 8 years of experience in Administrative / Finance and Accounts / Audit / Legal in a Govt. Dept, PSU or Autonomous Body, and a Post Graduate degree in Management, Law, Public Administration, Finance and Accounts, CA, ICWAI, Commerce, Economics or similar.
- OR retired Government employees with a Bachelor degree in any discipline, in Pay Level 7 and above, with 10 years of experience in Management, Law, Public Administration, Finance and Accounts, CA, ICWAI, Commerce or Economics.
Persons already in regular time-scale service under any Government department or organisation are not eligible. Selected consultants cannot hold any other remunerative post during their tenure.
Selection Process
- Only shortlisted candidates are called for a written test or interview. Meeting the essential qualification does not guarantee a call.
- The written test may be conducted by the Institute, if required.
- No TA/DA is paid for attending the test or interview. Candidates arrange their own travel and stay.
- Canvassing or outside influence leads to disqualification.

Key Terms and Conditions
- Initial engagement is for a maximum of one year. Extension is case by case, with total engagement up to five years or until age 70, whichever is earlier.
- No Provident Fund, LTC, medical benefit, DA, accommodation, CGHS or other allowances.
- Paid leave of 1.5 days for each completed month. No more than five days of leave at one time.
- Working hours are the same as regular ICMR employees. Absence for 8 continuous days without valid reason leads to automatic termination.
- Taxes are deducted at source as per government rules.
- The engagement gives no claim to a regular post or regularisation in ICMR.
- The Institute may cancel, modify or withdraw the process, and may terminate the contract at any time.
